Representative Tracy Richardson is excited to share that Governor Mike DeWine today signed into law her legislation to improve job training in Ohio.

House Bill 4 aims to make things easier for businesses interested in locating to Ohio – as well as those already here in Ohio – to get assistance with creating new job training certificates and industry-recognized credentials. These credentials and certificates specify the skills needed to meet the changing demands of businesses and make it possible for individuals to qualify for jobs.

“House Bill 4 is one more way we’re working to keep and create jobs right here in Ohio, and to provide opportunities for Ohioans to receive the training they need to succeed,” said Representative Richardson. “I’m proud to share with you that Governor Mike DeWine has signed into law my legislation to improve workforce development in Ohio. It truly takes a team to create a law and I’m grateful to my cosponsor Representative Robinson and all who contributed to making this bipartisan bill possible.”

The goal with House Bill 4 was to find a way to streamline the process of identifying skills needed for our workforce and to collaborate with educators throughout the state to develop and train to the skills.

With House Bill 4, the Governor’s Office of Workforce Transformation is now designated as a “one stop shop” for businesses. The Office will work collaboratively with the Ohio Department of Education, businesses and regional trainers to streamline the process of identifying certificates and credentials and to facilitate the training of those skills.

This new process will assist businesses and schools without adding burdensome costs to taxpayers.
