COLUMBUS—State Representative Tim Ginter (R-Salem) recently honored Ethan Smith, the 2015 Junior Champion of the World English Sporting Clays Tournament, during session for the Ohio House of Representatives. Ethan received a resolution on behalf of the Ohio House for his achievement.

Ethan, an 18 year old from New Waterford, has participated in several skeet shooting tournaments since he began taking lessons at age 13. English Sporting Clays is a form of clay shooting that is performed across the world. In the sport, clay targets are presented to the shooter in ways that mimic the flight pattern of game birds, exhibiting a constant and varying challenge.

“Ethan is an exceptionally talented and competitive young athlete who also values his education,” said Rep. Ginter. “He is the youngest competitor to have won the World English Sporting Clays Junior Championship and he is highly deserving of this resolution.”

Ethan has garnered support from multiple organizations including the National Armory, the Lawrence County Sportsman Club in Pennsylvania, and local sportsman clubs. His ultimate goal is to become a junior captain of the USA Sporting Clays Team.
