During my first term as your state representative, I had the privilege to serve as Vice Chair and later Chair of the Community and Family Advancement Committee. Recently, Speaker of the House Clifford A. Rosenberger reappointed me as Chair of the Community and Family Advancement Committee. I am incredibly honored to be named chair, during the 132nd General Assembly, of a committee that handles bills that directly impact our communities and families.

The House Community and Family Advancement Committee focuses on the broad range of issues that impact Ohio’s communities and families, with a particular focus on the impact of poverty. The committee seeks to bridge the gap between the skills and resources necessary for employment and those who need them.

The family is the foundation of our society. It is through the strength and stability of the family that the most treasured ideals of our society are nurtured and maintained.  Ideals such as honesty, compassion, respect, reliability, and courtesy serve to strengthen and stabilize our state. The family unit is the most basic form of government and a strong government relies upon strong families. If freedom, economic opportunity, and rule of law is to thrive, our families must be vibrant and healthy.

The work that will be done in this committee is a tremendous responsibility that my colleagues and I are so privileged to be a part of on behalf all Ohioans. I truly look forward to serving as chair in this 132nd General Assembly to help our communities and families better their futures.
