A lifelong resident of Central Ohio, Representative Tim Schaffer currently is serving his fourth non-consecutive term in the House of Representatives, serving the 77th House District, which encompasses most of Fairfield County.  Representative Schaffer's tenure in public office began when he was elected to the Ohio House of Representatives in 2000. After serving three terms he was elected to represent the 31st Ohio Senate District.

08.22.17 - Media Advisory:State Reps. Tim Schaffer And Kent Smith To Hold Press Conference On Importuning Legislation

 

COLUMBUS—State Representatives Tim Schaffer (R-Lancaster) and Kent Smith (D-Euclid) will host a press conference on Wednesday, August 23 to give a briefing on legislation to update importuning penalties in the Ohio Revised Code. The bipartisan bill seeks to correct an oversight in current law that allows those convicted of importuning, or soliciting a minor for sex over the internet, to receive little to no prison time when they are sentenced. The bill passed out of the House of Representatives as House Bill 405 last General Assembly by a vote of 95-0. The representatives will also be joined by officials from the law enforcement community who have been instrumental in supporting the legislation.

07.31.17 - Rep. Schaffer Announces Sales Tax Holiday For First Weekend Of August

State Representative Tim Schaffer (R-Lancaster) today announced that a sales tax holiday is set to be held the first weekend of August. The intent of the sales tax holiday, established by Senate Bill 9 approved earlier this year, is to provide parents with some tax relief during back-to-school shopping in preparation for the new school year and to stimulate economic activity for Ohio’s retailers.

 
 

06.28.17 - Rep. Schaffer Votes To Pass State Budget, Send To Governor

 

State Representative Tim Schaffer (R-Lancaster) voted today to pass the state biennial budget, House Bill 49. The bill passed the House with a vote of 59-38, and will go to Gov. Kasich’s desk for his signature.
