State Rep. Tom Patton (R-Strongsville) and State Senator Matt Dolan (R-Chagrin Falls) were recently invited to present an award to a local practice on behalf of the Ohio Optometric Association as part of their Ohio Vision Project Student Loan Repayment Program.

“I was proud to have this opportunity to present this award of $2,000,” said Patton. “It is our goal to work throughout our districts to recognize and help our neighbors who go the extra mile for our community. I thank Dr. Sedlacek for his commitment to our community and we wish him the very best in his practice here in Olmsted Falls.”

Dr. Scott Sedlacek, who runs a practice in Olmsted Falls, was honored with this award for his commitment to their patients and the community. He volunteers to educate and serve the public, provides free care to those in need and treats Medicaid beneficiaries.

While Dr. Sedlacek provides care for hundreds of neighbors as their primary eye care provider, he also is a small business owner that serves as an important part to the local economy. The average eye doctor employs between four to five workers, which indicates that nearly 10,000 Ohioans work directly in optometric practices statewide.

Eye doctors who are eligible for this award are those that provide pro bono care, volunteer in their community, serve Medicaid beneficiaries and practice in Health Professional Shortage Areas (HPSA) and/or a medically underserved area/populations.
