07.28.17 - Rep. Gavarone Announces Sales Tax Holiday For First Weekend Of August

 

COLUMBUS—State Representative Theresa Gavarone (R-Bowling Green) today announced that a sales tax holiday is set to be held the first weekend of August. The intent of the sales tax holiday, as established by legislation approved earlier this year, is to provide parents with some tax relief during back-to-school shopping in preparation for the new school year and to stimulate economic activity for Ohio’s retailers.

COLUMBUS—State Representative Theresa Gavarone (R-Bowling Green) today announced that the Ohio House of Representatives has approved the conference committee report on Amended Substitute House Bill 49, the state operating budget. With a major focus on combating Ohio’s dangerous drug epidemic and ensuring that schools receive vital funding, the legislation provides support to areas most in need and keeps spending under the rate of inflation over the biennium.

Our state is in a crisis of opiate addiction, and there is no easy solution. By now, you may be aware that Ohio had the most opioid-related overdose deaths in the nation in 2015, and that individuals and communities continue to suffer from the scourge of the drug abuse and addiction epidemic.
