State Rep. Terrence Upchurch (D-Collinwood) took the oath of office today during the opening session of the 133rd Ohio General Assembly at the Ohio Statehouse, officially beginning his first term as state lawmaker.

“I am honored that the working families and taxpayers of my community have entrusted me with such a great responsibility,” said Upchurch. “From creating more good-paying jobs and investing in our local schools to ensuring local communities are able to deliver essential services to residents, there is no shortage of challenges to take on at the Statehouse. I look forward to putting politics aside and working together to deliver real results for the people of our state.”

Upchurch recently served as a special assistant to Cleveland City Council and previously worked alongside Cuyahoga County Councilman Anthony Hairston. From his time working in city council, Terrence has learned and developed a keen understanding of the nuances of government which he brings to the Statehouse.

Born and raised in the greater Collinwood and Glenville communities, Terrence is a proud graduate of St. Peter Chanel High School. He earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science from Cleveland State University and is pursuing a Master’s of Public Administration Degree from Villanova University.
