Rep. Teresa Fedor (D-Toledo) today applauded the announcement by Governor John Kasich and Department of Public Safety Director John Born regarding new human trafficking awareness training for undercover agents who investigate liquor, tobacco and food stamp violations and Ohio State Highway Patrol officers:

“Developing a comprehensive approach that enlists all relevant state resources is key to the fight against human trafficking in Ohio.

“By strengthening training for law enforcement officers and enlisting new professionals in the fight against modern day slavery, we can work together to fill all the gaps and cracks into which the most vulnerable fall.

“I appreciate today’s dialogue between Governor Kasich and survivors. Ohio’s leaders must continue to listen to the voices of survivors and advocates in the field in order to effectively target resources and rescue and restore victims of human trafficking.”
