COLUMBUS—State Representative Steven Arndt (R-Port Clinton) today announced that the Erie County Common Pleas Adult Probation Department application for a Probation Improvement and Incentive Grant has been approved. The grant, awarded by the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction, is for $99,750 for the 2016 and 2017 fiscal years.

“I commend the Common Pleas Adult Probation Department for their hard work to reduce crime and recidivism rates by implementing best practices,” said Rep. Arndt. “This grant award demonstrates that Erie County is committed to the continual improvement of its criminal justice system.”

The Probation Improvement and Incentive Grants were established by House Bill 86, during the 129th General Assembly in an effort to improve local probation departments through the implementation of standards and training, enhanced data collection, and sentence reform. The grants are awarded to counties that achieve agreed upon performance measures.
