Columbus -

State Representative Steve Arndt (R-Port Clinton) will be attending the dedication for a new memorial picnic area named in honor of his constituent, Henry T. Beatty, for his civic contributions to the Kelleys Island community.

The "Henry T. Beatty Memorial Picnic Area” was designated under Senate Bill 134, legislation that became effective on March 23rd. Beatty was a lifelong resident of the Village of Kelleys Island and served as a commercial fisherman, park ranger, the fire chief, and the mayor during his life.

“I was honored to introduce legislation that would commemorate Henry Beatty’s life of service to Kelleys Island. This picnic spot on Kelleys Island has special significance as this was the location of Mr. Beatty’s bait shop,” said Arndt.

The picnic area will be located in Kelleys Island State Park. The dedication will be held on Sunday, August 5th at 11:00 a.m. Press are welcome to attend.
