State Representative Steve Arndt (R-Port Clinton) today announced information regarding the application process for the Local Government Safety Capital Grant. Initiated by the Ohio House of Representatives and included in the state operating budget for fiscal years 2016 and 2017, these grants can help to fund public safety projects in local communities throughout Ohio, including those in the 89th House District.

Funding for eligible projects must be used for purchasing vehicles, equipment, facilities and/or systems utilized by police, fire, and/or EMS providers to enhance public safety. The total request amount for projects is $100,000 per individual political subdivision.

“This will be of great assistance to our villages and townships in the district,” Arndt said. “It is disappointing to see our communities come short and struggle financially. Fortunately, the General Assembly has established a grant to help with local financing for public safety projects.”

Applications must be submitted online and will be accepted February 16, 2016 through March 21, 2016. The Local Government Innovation Council is administering the program.

More information on the application process can be found here: www.development.ohio.gov/bs/bs_lgscgp.htm.
