State Representative Steven Arndt (R-Port Clinton) today announced the passage of Substitute Senate Bill 182 by the Ohio House of Representatives, an omnibus bill that designates multiple memorial highways across the state.

The legislation includes House Bill 453, a road-naming bill sponsored by Rep. Arndt, which names a portion of highway in Erie County after Army Specialist Dennis Ramon. Ramon served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He was killed in action as the result of an explosive device in 1968.

Under the bill, the portion of State Route 6 from its intersection with State Route 4 to the intersection of State Route 6 and Fremont Avenue in Erie County is designated as the “Army Specialist Dennis Ramon Memorial Highway.”

“It is imperative that we recognize the sacrifice of Army Specialist Dennis Ramon,” Rep. Arndt said. “Thanks to the efforts of Jason and Laura Brake, their uncle and brother is being properly honored here in Ohio and in the district.”

Substitute Senate Bill 182 will now return to the Ohio Senate for concurrence on the changes made by the House.
