11.05.18 - Guest Column From State Rep. Steven Arndt: Bipartisan Legislation, Relationships Crucial To High-quality, Constituent-focused Accomplishments

In my career as a public servant, I have discovered that the quality of work I produce is directly related to the quality of relationships I cultivate. Therefore, I have made it a priority to work towards common goals with members of both political parties, regardless of their affiliation. Some may view bipartisanship as a roadblock. However, I view it as a key tenet of good government. Whether it be in the County Commissioner’s office or here in the Statehouse, it has always been important to me that we find ways to overcome petty partisan divisions in order to achieve real results for our constituents. I have sponsored and co-sponsored numerous bipartisan bills during my time in the House, and I hope to keep you, my constituents, informed in that regard.

10.22.18 - Guest Column From State Rep. Steve Arndt: Supporting Local Government Funding

Local government infrastructure has been a key priority for myself in my thirty-plus years of public service. When I came to Columbus in 2015, I realized the need for representation of local governments and their priorities in the legislature. At its core, government is a local enterprise. It is with this sentiment that I have tried to craft bills in my time as a state representative. There are numerous pieces of legislation that I have lent my support to, pieces that I believe will truly help local officials obtain the resources they need to make sound decisions for their communities.

10.16.18 - Guest Column From Rep. Steve Arndt: Education And School Safety

Part of being a legislator and community member is helping to facilitate the safety and success of Ohio’s children. As a father, I understand the importance of healthy public schools in our communities. Since I took office, I have introduced or helped to pass three major pieces of legislation to protect and strengthen our schools: House Bill 37, Senate Bill 8, and House Bill 318. I have served on the Education and Poverty Task Force and sponsored additional legislation to protect students from cyberbullying. In addition to this, I am completely committed to securing funding for public schools in the coming General Assembly, and I am proud to continue working with the many hardworking educators across the state on initiatives that help them in their classrooms every day.
