Wiggam Announces Approval of Significant School and Hospital Funding

State Rep. Scott Wiggam (R-Wayne County) announces that the State Controlling Board recently approved coronavirus relief funding to support local schools preparing for the beginning of the upcoming school year. 

“It’s gratifying to see this crucial funding coming to our local school districts in preparation for the upcoming year as they’re tasked with providing for both the safety and education of our children across Wayne County,” said Wiggam.

According to the Ohio Office of Budget and Management (OBM), the federal coronavirus relief aid can be used for a variety of needs, including protective equipment, cleaning and sanitation, and remote learning.

The school funding approved is being distributed based on enrollment. Additionally, there is funding to support students with disabilities and economically disadvantaged students, as well as transportation obligations.

Here are the school district allocations approved by the Controlling Board within the 1st Ohio House District: 

  • Chippewa Local - $61,407
  • Dalton Local - $44,870
  • Green Local – $54,257
  • Northwestern Local - $75,836
  • Norwayne Local - $76,332
  • Orrville City - $73,162
  • Rittman Exempted Village - $45,292
  • Southeast Local - $91,898
  • Triway Local - $87,912
  • Wooster City - $178,550

Additionally, the Controlling Board approved aid for rural hospitals throughout the state. Wooster Community Hospital, located within Wiggam’s district, is set to receive $371,555.
