Ohio’s network of 88 Soil and Water Conservation Districts (SWCDs) have been focused on local natural resources for over 75 years. Established shortly after the creation of the federal Natural Resources Conservation Service, Ohio’s SWCDs concentrate on land erosion prevention, water quality management and soil health. Each county’s SWCD is managed locally by a board of five elected officials. Due to the “grassroots style” of governance, each SWCD has a conservation program specifically suited to the community’s natural resource conservancy needs.

In a time when fatal traffic accidents have continued to increase over the last five years, it is crucial for individuals to be aware of traffic laws as well as the lesser known regulations administered by the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio (PUCO) Transportation Department, Ohio State Highway Patrol and the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) with regards to the safe operation of for-hire passenger-carrying Commercial Motor Vehicles (CMV) in our state. Vehicles carrying more than eight passengers, of which the driver receives compensation to transport passengers, are considered for-hire, passenger-carrying CMVs and must follow state and federal regulations specific to their line of work.
