State Representative Ron Young (R-Leroy Twp.) today announced that he will be hosting the first annual Constitution Day Celebration of Lake County on Saturday, September 17th. Details for the event are as follows:

Date: Saturday, September 17, 2016
Time: 10:30am to 12:30pm
Location: Painesville Square Gazebo (56 S. Park Place, Painesville, Ohio 44077)

At this nonpartisan event, Rep. Young will be joined by Congressman David Joyce, members of the clergy, other public office holders, representatives from the NAACP, and other leaders from the surrounding region. The event will commemorate the signing of the Constitution of the United States, which took place 229 years ago. On September 17, 1787, 39 brave patriots committed their lives in sacred honor to providing a foundation for our freedom. Their commitment to God, country and family was evident in the document they signed and in the lives they lived.

“Many of the foundational principles expressed in the United States Constitution are under attack,” said Rep. Young. “By exploring the lives of three of those who were instrumental in signing and ratifying our Constitution, I believe wisdom can be found to guide us through these changing times. This day is intended to remind Americans of where we came from and declare that we are still ‘One Nation under God!’”

All are welcome to attend this educational and patriotic event honoring America’s history. There will be great music by the Mentor High School Chamber Choir to enjoy and a presentation of colors by the Lake County Marine Veteran Honor Guard. Each attendee will also be given a copy of the U.S. Constitution. The first 150 people who show up will also get a free hot dog, compliments of WilloHill Church in Willoughby!

Please note, in the case of inclement weather the event will be moved directly behind the gazebo to the First Church Congregation (22 Liberty Street, Painesville, Ohio, 44077).
