COLUMBUS—State Representatives Ron Young (R-Leroy Twp.) and Steve Hambley (R-Brunswick) introduced House Bill 744 that will ensure that an insurer offering life insurance, disability insurance, or long-term care insurance shall not discriminate against a living organ donor in the offering, issuance, price, or conditions of a policy of insurance based solely, and without any additional actuarial risks, on that person's status as a living organ donor.

COLUMBUS—State Representative Ron Young (R-Leroy Township) is pleased to announce that Lake County farmers, Nursery Growers, and Vineyards will be receiving a reduction in the amount of property taxes they will be paying next year. Although specific numbers are not available yet, one-third of the state has received reductions and some future trends for this section of the state can be projected at this point.

State Representative Ron Young (R-Leroy Twp.) today announced that a sales tax holiday will be held this weekend, an opportunity for parents to receive some tax relief during back-to-school shopping in preparation for the new school year which will also stimulate economic activity for Ohio’s retailers. This year’s sales tax holiday was established by the state operating budget, House Bill 49.

COLUMBUS—State Representative Ron Young (R-Leroy Township) voted in favor of Senate Bill 299 during today’s House session. This legislation makes critical investments to support and preserve the health of Lake Erie and its tributaries. Representative Young successfully amended Senate Bill 299 to include annual payments to the Perry Joint Fire District, for the next 10 years, to provide relief to the fire district from the property tax revenue loss they are suffering due to the devaluation of the Perry Nuclear Power Plant.

COLUMBUS—The Ohio House of Representatives this week passed House Bill 49, the state operating budget. For the first time in several years, the budget as passed by the House limits increased spending at a rate lower than that of inflation. The bill addresses some of Ohio’s most pressing issues, including more than $170 million in funding towards combating Ohio’s opioid epidemic and providing additional resources to schools. Rep. Ron Young (R-Leroy Township) voted in support of the legislation.

06.23.16 - Rep. Young Applauds Recommendation Of Straight A Funding For Fairport Harbor Exempted Village

 

State Representative Ron Young (R-Leroy Twp.) today applauded the Ohio Department of Education’s recommendation that Fairport Harbor Exempted Village School District receive a $368,680 grant through the Straight A Fund. The district has been recommended by the Straight A Fund Governing Board to receive one of 23 grants representing 90 schools.

The Ohio General Assembly recently passed House Bill 342 by Representative Ron Young. The bill creates an “Ohio Farm Winery” permit allowing a wine manufacturer that grows grapes on its property and produces and sells wine on its premise to distinguish itself as an authentic Ohio Farm winery.

House Bill 320, sponsored by Representative Ron Young (R-Leroy), was passed by both the House and the Senate with overwhelming bipartisan support on December 4th, 2014. It was signed by the Governor on December 18th, 2014, and becomes effective March 23rd, 2015. The bill made changes to the law regarding free clinics, with the goal of increasing volunteerism and providing better access to care for those that need it.

Specifically, the bill addresses a provision of the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) of 2012, which states, “Congress affirms that the authority of the President to use all necessary and appropriate force pursuant to the Authorization for Use of Military Force includes the authority for the Armed Forces of the United States to detain covered persons pending disposition under the law of war.”
