COLUMBUS -

State Representatives Ron Hood (R-Ashville) and Gary Scherer (R-Circleville) today recognized the Ohio Christian University men’s basketball team on winning the 2013 NCAA Division II Tournament. The team was presented with a resolution during House session.

The Trailblazers defeated Arlington Baptist 73-62 in the title game to claim the first national championship in school history and completed the season with a perfect 22-0 record.

“I was happy that the Ohio Christian men’s basketball team could join us in the House chamber today to be recognized for their great accomplishment,” Hood said. “They are a symbol of pride for the people of Circleville and throughout the state. The players’ hard work and sportsmanship set a positive example for all athletes.”

“It was an honor recognizing the OCU men’s basketball team on its national championship,” Scherer said. “It is a huge accomplishment not only for those men, but for the university and the community.”
