COLUMBUS—Today, State Representative Rob McColley (R-Napoleon) presented a resolution honoring Sam Meece on winning the 2016 Division II State Championship in the discus.

The then-junior beat out his opponents with a top throw of 191 feet, 4 inches to land the prestigious state title. As an indispensable member of the Napoleon High School boys track and field team, Meece has exhibited laudable athletic talent along with a commitment to self-discipline and integrity.

“It was truly an honor hosting Sam and his family at the Statehouse today,” Rep. McColley said.  “I can remember coaching Sam at St. Paul in football and his athletic ability and natural talent has always been obvious, even at such a young age.  I am excited to see where this young man’s future takes him and wish him the best of luck in his quest to repeat.”
