Representative Robert Sprague (R-Findlay) and Senator Cliff Hite (R-Findlay) today held a press conference announcing the introduction of legislation that will name a portion of road in Hancock County after late Congressman Mike Oxley.

House Bill 430 was introduced this week and will designate a section of U.S. Route 30 in Hancock County as the “Congressman Michael G. Oxley Memorial Highway.” Mike Oxley, a former Congressman from Findlay, Ohio, passed away on January 1st of this year. Oxley represented Ohio’s 4th congressional district from 1981 until 2007. He was also a member of the Ohio House of Representatives from 1973 until 1981.

“Congressman Oxley was a man of the people, and he never forgot where he came from.  When I first came back to Findlay, I attended his farewell event.  I remember him getting choked up when he referred to his hometown as the bright shining city on the hill,” said Representative Sprague.  “He made Route 30 a priority and was the driving force behind getting it done.  Route 30 has kept people safer as they traveled across our great state and provided access for economic development for businesses.”

House Bill 430 will soon be assigned to a committee for further discussion.
