COLUMBUS - 

State Representative Rick Perales (R-Beavercreek) has announced the members participating in the Speaker’s BRAC Task Force on Military Affairs.


The Task Force, which Perales chairs, will study and analyze the current Ohio Department of Defense and NASA assets, resources and missions in anticipation of potential Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC) actions and other major mission realignment opportunities. Through a series of meetings beginning in late September, the task force will garner input from Ohio’s installations, which will lead to recommendations for future restructuring.


Along with Chairman Perales, the task force will consist of 11 impressive members who represent diverse communities across Ohio, including four legislators:



  • Cassie Barlow (Dayton) – Southwestern Ohio Council for Higher Education, Director of Aerospace Professional Development

  • Rep. Hearcel Craig (D-Columbus) - State Representative, 26th District

  • Rep. Bob Cupp (R-Lima) - State Representative, 4th District

  • James Dignan (Youngstown) –Youngstown Chamber, President

  • Wendy Gramza (Toledo) –Toledo Chamber, President

  • Richard Green (Mansfield) - National Guard Association, Legislative Director       

  • Rep. Dave Greenspan (R-Westlake) - State Representative, 16th District                            

  • Rep. Laura Lanese (R-Grove City) - State Representative, 23rd District

  • Paul Sullivan (Columbus) – Old Sullivan, LLC, Defense and Space Senior Consultant

  • Steve Tugend (Columbus) – Kegler Brown, Director and Chair of Government Affairs

  • Mike Wiehe (Dayton) – Wright State University Applied Policy Research Institute, Director


"I am excited about the depth, breadth and diversity these accomplished individuals bring to our task force,” Perales said. “Along with Speaker Rosenberger, I want to thank them for volunteering to help Ohio proactively prepare our DOD and NASA installations for an inevitable BRAC and/or DOD restructuring. I look forward to kicking off this task force with visits to Ohio’s major installations this fall."


Rep. Perales plans to hold meetings across the state from September through November. Specific meeting dates will be announced at a later time.

State Representative Rick Perales (R-Beavercreek) recently was sworn in as a member of the Ohio House of Representatives for the 130th General Assembly. He represents the 73rd Ohio House District, which includes Bath Township, Beavercreek, Bellbrook, Centerville, Clifton Village, Fairborn, Huber Heights, Kettering, Miami Township, Sugarcreek Township and Yellow Springs Village.
