COLUMBUS—State Representative Rick Perales (R-Beavercreek) will be presenting at the third annual Ohio Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) Conference, a forum that brings together interested parties from throughout the country and state to discuss status, issues and advancements relative to UAS.

Rep. Perales will speak on Wednesday, August 27th at 3:15 PM on a panel.  His subject matter will be the Ohio Aerospace and Aviation Technology Committee, which was created with the passage of House Bill 292, a bill that he championed. The legislation will go into effect in September of this year. The committee will work to unite various sectors of the aerospace and aviation industry, with the goal of developing strategies to promote the aerospace and aviation industry in the State of Ohio.

"Ohio has all the elements of a state poised to lead the country in aerospace and aviation, we just lack the state-wide unified strategy. This committee will pull together those elements and help create an environment even more suited for Aerospace and Aviation firms and suppliers to do business in the state of Ohio,” Rep. Perales said. “The UAS industry is slated to have a $13 billion national economic impact in the first three years after integration into the National Airspace. With all our aerospace and aviation related resources, there's no reason why Ohio shouldn't be the number one state for UAS development and manufacturing.”

The event takes place at the Dayton Convention Center located at 22 E. St., Dayton, OH 45402 today, Tuesday, August 26, 2014, and tomorrow, Wednesday, August 27, 2014.
