COLUMBUS—State Representative Rick Perales (R-Beavercreek) today presented House Resolution 327 to the Beavercreek Soccer Team, honoring them as the 2017 Division I State Champion. The team was previously awarded the title in the 1980s.

Beavercreek defeated Medina on November 11, 2017 in an overtime win, securing the Division I Boys Soccer title. The contest took place in Columbus’s MAPFRE Stadium. The team ended the season having scored over 100 goals, and allowing only 14.

“Winning a state championship in any sport is something that will stay with you for your whole life, and I am so proud of the Beavercreek Boys Soccer Team for their accomplishments,” said Rep. Perales. “The team’s diligence and work ethic have clearly been fostered by Coach Guiliano and are reflected in both the championship and team GPA. I hope these kids carry that with them, especially the six young men who are continuing on to play at the collegiate level.”

The team has been coached by John Guiliano for 32 years, 29 of which have been spent at the varsity level. Assistant coach—and son of John Guiliano—Jason Guiliano has been with the team for 19 years.

The team proved successful on the field with the leadership of captains Ryan Berndt, Dominic Calabrese and Daniel Donohue, and in the classroom as well, with an average GPA of 3.52. Six players have been recognized for academic achievement at the state and local levels, and ten key players will return to the team next year.

Rep. Perales presented the resolution to the team during this week’s House session alongside Beavercreek’s Principal, Athletic Director, Head Coach, Assistant Coach and Manager.
