Columbus -

The Ohio House of Representatives today passed House Concurrent Resolution 54, which urges the U.S. Congress to continue the full funding and production of the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter’s technology. HCR 54 was sponsored by State Representative Rick Perales (R-Beavercreek).

Wright-Patterson Air Force Base conducts a significant portion of the testing of the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter’s technology, which is unmatched by any other weapons system in the world and should replace the current aging fleet of U.S. military aircraft, according to the resolution.

Additionally, 56 Ohio manufacturers contribute to the production of parts of the F-35 and more than 4,300 skilled Ohioans are employed to produce this technology, both directly and indirectly. The F-35 program has more than $442 million in economic impact in Ohio.

The United States has been investing in the production of the F-35 for more than a decade and will lose the benefits of this investment if full funding and planned production is not continued.

HCR 54 received strong bipartisan support in the Ohio House.
