State Rep. Randi Clites (D-Ravenna) today issued a statement announcing over $1.4 million in funding for the Portage County Regional Transportation Authority (PARTA), which was passed with Democratic backing in the state’s transportation budget earlier this year.

“I am proud that this added investment in our public transit systems has been secured for Portage County. With this funding, PARTA will be able to expand their work to provide mobility to those in Portage County to get to work, the grocery store, doctor’s appointments and more. This is a crucial investment in working families, students, seniors, and all Portage County residents alike.”

PARTA operates 15 fixed routes that service Akron, Brimfield, Cleveland, Franklin Township, Garrettsville, Hiram, Kent, Ravenna, Ravenna Township, Rootstown, Stow, Streetsboro, and Windham.  PARTA also operates transportation services at Kent State University.
