06.26.19 - Dems Elect Hicks-Hudson Whip, Brown Assistant Whip

 

Ohio House Democratic Leader Emilia Strong Sykes (D-Akron) today announced the election of Rep. Paula Hicks-Hudson (D-Toledo) as Minority Whip and Rep. Richard Brown (D-Canal Winchester) as Assistant Minority Whip for the 133rd General Assembly. Brown joins the Democratic leadership team after former Whip Rep. Kent Smith (D-Euclid) stepped down last week.

State Rep. Paula Hicks-Hudson (D-Toledo) today announced the release of $1,940,200 in state funds to support infrastructure improvements at the Northwest Ohio Psychiatric Hospital. The Northwest Ohio Psychiatric Hospital (NOPH) is a state-owned and operated, in-patient behavioral healthcare facility located in Toledo, Lucas County, Ohio.

Ohio House Democratic lawmakers today announced a number of proposals, including safe storage, red-flag and background check laws, commonsense measures they say will better keep kids and communities safe. The package comes amid debate on House Bill (HB) 178, controversial legislation Democrats say is a solution in search of a problem.
