I am proud to announce that the Ohio House of Representatives has taken a first step towards protecting our children from intrusive state education mandates. House Bill 7 would provide safe harbor for our students, prohibiting scores from the first year of new state assessment tests, including those from the Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers (PARCC), from being used to determine granting credits and grade promotion.

State Representative Paul Zeltwanger (R-Mason) applauded today’s Ohio House passage of House Bill 7, legislation that provides academic protections for students taking new state assessments during the 2014-15 school year. New assessments in mathematics and English language arts are supplied by the Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers (PARCC).

State Representative Paul Zeltwanger (R-Mason) announced today that the Ohio Legislative Service Commission is accepting applications for its 13-month Legislative and Telecommunications Fellowship Program. The Commission will hire 24 fellows to work with members of the Ohio General Assembly during 2016.
