City of Franklin Receives Grant for Trail Projects

COLUMBUS—State Representative Scott Lipps (R-Franklin) is pleased to announce that the City of Franklin has received grant funding though the Clean Ohio Trails Fund.  The Clean Ohio Trails Fund, administered by the Ohio Department of Natural Resources, is one of three components of the Clean Ohio Fund.  This fund seeks to restore, protect, and connect Ohio’s natural and urban areas. 

The City of Franklin received $175,037 to help fund construction of a 10-foot wide, 0.8 mile multi-use asphalt trail from Baxter Drive to the municipal corporation limit shared with Middletown.  The new asphalt trail will connect two existing segments of the Great Miami River Trail, a very popular trail used by thousands of people annually.  Clean Ohio Trails Fund assistance will fund a portion of the trail construction, design, and engineering.

The projected total cost of this trail expansion is $1,058,414.38.

“This project is so important to the community and we are grateful for the Clean Ohio Trails Fund that is capable of supporting local projects like this one in Warren County,” said Rep. Lipps.  “It is also important to recognize that there is a dedicated group within our community that initiates applications for these sorts of projects.  Their work is greatly appreciated and does not go unnoticed.  The Great Miami River Trail has always been a beautiful place where the community and visitors can come to connect with the natural beauty we have in Ohio.  This grant will further attract visitors, hikers, and adventurists to the City of Franklin.”    

Rep. Lipps continues to serve Warren County as a State Representative in his second term.  He remains committed to improving the lives of all those who call Warren County home and he is excited to see the improvements that will soon be made to the Great Miami River Trail.
