09.07.18 - Guest Column: Workers' Compensation Rebates An Economic Boost To Warren County

 

The summer of 2018 brought with it another massive boost to Ohio’s economy, coming once again from the Ohio Bureau of Workers' Compensation. For the fourth time since 2013, the agency is again sending a 9-figure rebate to Ohio’s private and public employers, thanks to wise investments, smart business decisions and falling claims numbers. This year’s rebate is $1.5 billion and the BWC’s largest in 20 years. 

 
 

08.17.18 - Rep. Lipps Announces Breakthrough In Battle Against Skyrocketing Drug Prices

 
Columbus - 

State Representative Scott Lipps (R-Franklin) today announced that the Ohio Department of Medicaid (ODM) is terminating contracts with all pharmacy middlemen. This announcement comes after Auditor Yost presented a draft of his report on pharmacy benefit managers (PBMs) to ODM. The contracts will be re-established with a more transparent pricing model, called “pass-through,” that will take effect January 1st, 2019.

State Representative Scott Lipps (R-Franklin) today announced that a sales tax holiday will be held this weekend, an opportunity for parents to receive some tax relief during back-to-school shopping in preparation for the new school year which will also stimulate economic activity for Ohio’s retailers. This year’s sales tax holiday was established by the state operating budget, House Bill 49.

Kyle Koehler (R-Springfield) and Michael Ashford (D-Toledo). The bipartisan bill will reform the state’s payday lending industry and is aimed at lowering interest rates on loans and helping borrowers avoid endless debt cycles.

The fair is one of my favorite events in southwestern Ohio, especially when I try to be as involved as possible in our local FFA organization. The FFA is a wonderful program that teaches our children leadership and citizenship skills, and the Warren County Fair highlights all the hard work they put in each year.
