In the wake of school shootings around the country, I’ve found myself thinking about added concerns when sending children off to class. Fearing for a student’s bodily safety should not be a worry for parents and guardians who deal with innumerous stresses associated with raising a child. In an effort to help provide some relief for these concerns, the Ohio House has worked on several initiatives to secure educational environments for students and teachers alike, including House Bill 318, which passed with strong bipartisan support.

The summer of 2018 brought with it another massive boost to Ohio’s economy, coming once again from the Ohio Bureau of Workers' Compensation. For the fourth time since 2013, the agency is again sending a 9-figure rebate to Ohio’s private and public employers, thanks to wise investments, smart business decisions and falling claims numbers. This year’s rebate is $1.5 billion and the BWC’s largest in 20 years. 

 
 

08.17.18 - Rep. Lipps Announces Breakthrough In Battle Against Skyrocketing Drug Prices

State Representative Scott Lipps (R-Franklin) today announced that the Ohio Department of Medicaid (ODM) is terminating contracts with all pharmacy middlemen. This announcement comes after Auditor Yost presented a draft of his report on pharmacy benefit managers (PBMs) to ODM. The contracts will be re-established with a more transparent pricing model, called “pass-through,” that will take effect January 1st, 2019.
