COLUMBUS -

Speaker of the Ohio House Clifford A. Rosenberger (R-Clarksville) today appointed Rep. Niraj Antani (R-Miamisburg) to the Joint Committee on Ohio College Affordability.

The committee, created in the state operating budget, will research the issue of college affordability and develop strategies to reduce the cost of attending colleges or universities in Ohio. Through meetings with the Chancellor of Higher Education and leadership from institutions of higher education, the committee will compile a report of its recommendations.

"Making college affordable is of paramount concern to Ohioans," Antani said. "Universities have been reckless in not controlling costs, resulting in skyrocketing tuition and costs for students. We must find and implement ways to reduce the cost of college if Ohio will be competitive economically in the future."

Rep. Antani is the Vice Chair of the Higher Education and Workforce Development Committee and represents the 42nd House District, which includes portions of Montgomery County.
