COLUMBUS- Earlier this month, Mason High School announced that they will no longer recognize a class valedictorian and salutatorian. This change is scheduled to begin with the class of 2020. A school official had the following to say about the change, “This will help reduce the overall competitive culture at MHS to allow students to focus on exploring learning opportunities that are of interest of them.” This follows decisions by Tippecanoe and Springboro Schools to not name a valedictorian or salutatorian.

05.29.19 - Rep. Antani Statement On House Passage Of House Bill 6

COLUMBUS - Today, the Ohio House of Representatives has voted 53-43 to pass House Bill 6. This bill repeals the renewable portfolio standards (RPS) and energy efficiency (EE) programs, establishes a program to fund nuclear assets, and continues a program to fund coal assets. Under this bill, the average Ohioan would pay $4.68 less a month on their utility bill as the RPS and EE charges would be repealed. The average DP&L customer would pay $1.68 less, and $2.11 less next year. As well, the bill creates a $1 a month charge until 2027 for the nuclear assets and continues a $2.50 charge until 2030. Thus, the average Ohioan would pay $3.68 less a month under this bill and the average Daytonian would pay 68 cents less a month and $1.11 less a month starting next year. As well, every Ohioan would pay 100% less beginning in 2028, and 100% less in the continuing coal charge in 2031. The bill will now be sent to the Senate for consideration.
