Nick was born and raised in Columbiana County. Growing up in a steelworker’s home, Nick learned the value of hard work at an early age. He graduated from Lisbon David Anderson High School in 1993 Magna Cum Laude. He later studied at Kent State University, where he graduated Magna Cum Laude with a degree in Political Science. 06.18.13 - Rep. Barborak's Proposal To Honor Fallen Patriot Advances
State Representative Nick Barborak (D-Lisbon) today introduced an omnibus floor amendment to Substitute House Bill 19 to memorialize and honor Ohio’s sons and daughters whom have paid the ultimate price to protect our nation’s freedom. The amendment was a collection of several memorial highway designations throughout the state, including a portion of State Route 45 through Yellow Creek Township to be designated as the “Corporal Ernest G. Madden Memorial Highway.”

05.22.13 - Rep. Barborak Memorializes Fallen Patriot With Bill Introduction
State Representative Nick Barborak (D-Lisbon) introduced House bill 169 today to designate a portion of State Route 45 in Yellow Creek Township as the “Corporal Ernest G. Madden Memorial Highway.” Corporal Madden served as a member of the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. He was killed in action on May 12, 1967.
