Rep. Nicholas J. Celebrezze Receives Legislative Committee Assignments
Appointed to shape and refine bills before House legislative panels

State Rep. Nicholas Celebrezze (D-15) has been appointed as a member of the House committees on Public Utilities, Judiciary, and Transportation, Public Safety & Homeland Security.

"I am honored to be selected to serve as a member of these committees," said Rep. Celebrezze. “I look forward to working on bills and issues with Members on both sides of the aisle to help move our State forward.  I hope that my experience brings a valuable and unique outlook to establishing laws that are in the best interest of Ohioans.”

Representative Celebrezze was also named to serve as the Democratic House Member on the Ohio Attorney General's Foster Care Advisory Group, which aims to make changes and updates to the Foster Parenting law in the state.

“It is truly a humbling experience to be a voice on behalf of children and foster parents who utilize the services of Juvenile Courts,” stated Representative Celebrezze.  “As a practicing lawyer in Family Court-related issues, as well as a Legislator, I have experienced that improvements to our system can benefit children in these difficult times. I commend and thank Attorney General DeWine for making this a priority”.

The House of Representatives has 17 standing committees. House Republicans have slightly altered the committee structure for the 130th General Assembly. The committees on Local Government and Criminal Justice were consolidated, while new committees on Manufacturing & Workforce Development and Policy & Legislative Oversight were established. Committee meetings may be held any time before or after House floor sessions, and they are open to the public.

Representative Celebrezze was elected to his first full-term this past November, after being appointed in January of 2012. He is a former Cuyahoga County Adult Probation Officer, Assistant Cuyahoga County Prosecutor, and Councilman for the City of Parma.  He is a practicing attorney in the law firm of Calo & Celebrezze, LLC, with offices in Parma and Cleveland, focusing primarily on sports agency and family law issues.
