08.17.17 - New Law To Close Loophole In Child-Enticement Statute

 

COLUMBUS, OHIO – State Representatives Mike Duffey (R-Worthington) and Bob Cupp (R-Lima) today announced plans to partner with Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine and Franklin County Prosecutor Ron O’Brien to introduce new legislation to strengthen Ohio’s child-enticement law.

 
 

06.21.17 - Ohio House Passes Bill Allowing Ohio Students To Count More Computer Science Classes Toward Graduation

 

COLUMBUS—State Representatives Rick Carfagna (R-Genoa Township) and Mike Duffey (R-Worthington) today announced that the Ohio House has passed legislation that would allow Ohio high school students to choose computer science instead of classes like geology and Algebra II as graduation requirements. The bill is supported by some of the biggest tech companies and national computer science organizations, such as Google and Code.org. House Bill 170 will put Ohio ahead of many other states in promoting computer science education as one option for high school graduation. The legislation leaves the ultimate decision up to locally elected school boards, who may choose to still require Algebra II or any other class for graduation.

05.18.16 - Ohio House Passes 'DataOhio' Bill, HB 130 (Duffey, Hagan)

 

By a unanimous vote of 90-0, the Ohio House of Representatives today passed House Bill 130, also known as DataOhio, legislation sponsored by State Representatives Mike Duffey (R-Worthington) and Christina Hagan (R-Alliance).  A nearly identical bill passed the Ohio House last session by a unanimous vote of 92-0, but did not have time to pass the Ohio Senate during ‘lame duck’ session.

The Ohio House of Representatives today concurred on Senate changes to House Bill 37 with broad bipartisan support. HB 37, sponsored by State Representatives Mike Duffey (R-Worthington) will help the many small businesses located in Central Ohio’s historic North Market by allowing a person to possess beer or liquor on the premises without violating Ohio law if the beverage was purchased by a qualified permit holder in that market.

State Senator Joe Uecker (R-Miami Township), chairman, and State Representative Mike Duffey (R-Worthington), vice chairman, of the Joint Committee on Agency Rule Review (JCARR) have formally introduced legislation in their respective chambers (SB 303 and HB 503) to reform Ohio’s state agency rulemaking to ensure rules are filed timely and in a fair manner.  The legislation is also co-sponsored by former JCARR Chairman, Sen. Frank LaRose (R-Copley Township) and current JCARR member, Rep. Cheryl Grossman (R-Grove City), and more than a dozen other legislators.
