Rep. Lepore-Hagan Statement On Hospital Capacity Efforts
Applauds identification of Covelli Center to expand bed space

COLUMBUS- State Representative Michele Lepore-Hagan (D-Youngstown) today issued the following statement in response to Governor DeWine’s announcement on hospital capacity and the inclusion of the Covelli Convention Center in Mahoning County as a site for potential hospital bed expansion:

“Mahoning County’s service industry is a key part of our local economy. We have a large population of at risk individuals and close proximity to neighboring states and key highways. It’s no wonder we are experiencing the highest number of COVID-19 cases per population in the state.

In order for Ohio to respond and be a leader in combatting this global health crisis, not just in our state but in the country, Mahoning Valley must be at the forefront. I’m grateful the Covelli Convention Center is being identified as a potential site for hospital overflow. We will need it more than most.

The great people of Youngstown stand ready to serve and respond. We will work hard and fight for our people.”
