COLUMBUS— State Representative Michele Lepore-Hagan (D-Youngstown) today announced the passage of House Bill (HB) 13, Democratic priority legislation to create the Ohio Residential Broadband Expansion Program, specifically designed to bring broadband to unserved residential households.

HB 13 combines efforts by government and private enterprise with the goal of expanding broadband connectivity to unserved households across Ohio.

“Due to the coronavirus pandemic, sheltering at home has become a new normal for many Ohio families. Access to broadband is an essential element needed to connect our communities and educate our children for the future,” said Rep. Lepore-Hagan. “I am proud to be a co-sponsor of this much needed legislation.”

The bill now moves to the Senate for further consideration.
