State Rep. Michael Sheehy (D-Oregon) today urged Lucas County residents who have not voted in four years to check their registration status ahead of a county-wide purge of the voter-rolls.

The deadline for voters to re-register and remain eligible to participate in the City of Toledo Primary Election is Monday August 17, 2015. The following day the Lucas County Board of Election will remove voters from the rolls who have not been active since July 2011.

“On the 50th anniversary of the Voting Rights Act, it is as important as ever to ensure that every citizen has the right to vote,” said Sheehy. “Checking your voter registration status is key to avoid being denied access to the polls on election day.”

Any voter who is scheduled for removal and wishes to remain a registered voter must use the Online Change of Address System www.MyOhioVote.com/moved.htm or complete a voter registration card and mail it to the Lucas County Board of Elections by Monday, August 17, 2015. Voter registration cards can be obtained at any BMV or public library.
