COLUMBUS – State Rep. Michael Sheehy (D-Oregon) has been appointed as a member of the House committees on Economic Development & Regulatory Reform, and State & Local Government.

“I am excited to begin attending hearings and working with my colleagues on the Economic Development and State & Local Government committees,” said Rep. Sheehy. “As a former member and president of Oregon City Council, I have a unique perspective on the importance of issues faced by communities around the state. I hope to work in a bipartisan manner to better serve the people I represent.”

Committees are crucial to the formation of laws as they allow opportunities for opponents and proponents to present testimony and voice opinions. Often, legislation is amended and changed through the committee process to include or exclude some provisions before the bill makes it to the House floor.

Rep. Michael Sheehy was appointed to the Ohio House in June after serving in municipal government for nearly two decades. Rep. Sheehy and his wife Sandra reside in Oregon.
