In celebration of Teacher Appreciation Week on May 6-10, State Representative Mike Henne (R-Clayton) has announced that he will be hosting a “Teacher Appreciation Essay Contest,” which gives local students the opportunity to showcase their writing skills and show appreciation for their favorite teacher.


“We have all had a teacher who made a difference in our lives,” said Rep. Henne. “This is a great opportunity to recognize those individuals and thank them for their hard work and dedication.”


Students from grades K-12 are encouraged to participate. Those who are interested in participating in the contest must submit their essays by Wednesday, May 1st. Essays should be a maximum of 350 words and describe what qualities the student admires in his/her teacher.


Rep. Henne will pay a special visit to the winner of the essay contest, as well as the teacher who inspired the essay.


Entries should be emailed to Rep40@ohiohouse.gov with the subject line “Great Teaching Essay.” Handwritten entries should be scanned and emailed.


Participating schools include Huber Heights City School District, Vandalia-Butler City School District, Northmont City School District, and Mad River Local School District.
