The team had an impressive record of 14-1 during the regular season, and swept the playoffs going on to defeat the defending champion Trotwood-Madison in the final. This is Central Catholic’s second D-II state championship in eight seasons.

"I have been a huge fan and supporter of the Central Catholic Football team for the past 12 years, and could not be more proud of these young men," said Rep. Michael Ashford. “I live around the corner from the school and have attended numerous Central Catholic activities during the past few months. Whenever possible, I try to catch the football games, as they are sure to be exciting. I look forward to seeing what’s in store for them next season.”

Greg Dempsey leads the Central Catholic football team, and recently completed his 13th year as coach for the Irish.  Running back Amir Edwards had both of the team’s touchdowns that assisted them in defeating Trotwood-Madison 16-12.
