Oelslager, Controlling Board Approves Funds for Stark County Projects
COLUMBUS—State Representative Scott Oelslager (R–North Canton) and the Ohio Controlling Board, announced the release of more than $500,000 for infrastructure improvements in Stark County.
The funding will go towards roadwork to support the Diebold Nixdorf, Inc. project, an American multinational financial and retail technology company in North Canton.
“I’d like to thank the Department of Development for their work on acquiring this funding,” said Oelslager. “Making our roadways more efficient will continue to attract businesses to Stark County.”
Plans for the funding include widening 1,800 feet of Charlotte Street between Orchard Avenue and Portage Street. In addition to widening the roadway, the intersection of Charlotte Street and North Main Street will be widened, new traffic signs will be installed and a roundabout will be constructed at the intersection of Charlotte and Portage Street.
In addition, the Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services was awarded $26,300 for architectural services to study the structure and overall health of the Heartland Behavioral Healthcare Mansion for potential renovations or demolition.
“It’s important that we keep our mental and behavioral healthcare facilities up to date. Every Ohioan must receive the best care possible whether they’re experiencing a physical or mental aliment,” said Oelslager.
The next controlling board meeting is scheduled for Feb. 28.
