Rep. Robinson announces $1.66 million in new capital funds for House District 6

Ohio House of Representatives passes $3.5 billion capital budget

COLUMBUS — State Rep. Phil Robinson (D-Solon) commends the passage of the capital budget, House Bill (HB) 687, by the Ohio House of Representatives. The capital budget appropriates resources to state owned infrastructure, colleges, universities and school districts, as well as other community projects. The capital budget is typically passed every 2 years, with this year’s budget appropriating over $3.5 billion to counties across Ohio with $191 million being allocated to community projects.

“As we continue to recover from the pandemic, these infrastructure and community projects are more important than ever,” said Rep. Robinson. “I was pleased we could secure increased funding of community projects both statewide and in District 6.”

Rep. Robinson helped to secure $1.66 million in funding, a 32% increase from the last capital budget, for a number of community projects in House District 6:

·         $100,000 for the Bentleyville Riverview Community Park

·         $100,000 for the Brecksville Field House

·         $100,000 for the Chagrin Falls Historical Society

·         $400,000 for the Chagrin Meadows Preserve in Moreland Hills

·         $40,000 for the Gates Mills Community House Improvements

·         $50,000 for the Glenwillow Tinker's Creek Trail

·         $100,000 for the Highland Heights Park Connector

·         $75,000 for the Independence Pool Facility Improvements

·         $100,000 for the Lyndhurst Police and Fire Dedication Playground

·         $150,000 for Seven Hills Calvin Park Drainage Improvements

·         $400,000 for Solon to Chagrin Falls Multi- Purpose Trail

·         $48,000 for the Walton Hills Thomas Young Park

·         $1,663,000 total in community projects for Ohio House District 6

Cuyahoga County will be receiving $150.8 million in total from the capital budget, which is over a 46% increase in project funds from the last capital budget. Rep. Robinson helped advocated for $23.9 million in funding for a number of community projects of countywide significance, including:

·         $1,000,000 for the Bellefaire Jewish Children's Bureau

·         $50,000 for the Cleveland Botanical Garden

·         $900,000 for the Cleveland Museum of Natural History

·         $750,000 for the Greater Cleveland Foodbank

·         $100,000 for the Kol Israel Foundation Holocaust Memorial

·         $200,000 for the MacDonald Women's Hospital Healthy Women Initiative

·         $450,000 for the MetroHealth Senior Health and Wellness Center

·         $1,000,000 for the Playhouse Square

·         $175,000 for Shoes 4Kids

·         $150,000 for United Way of Greater Cleveland

The capital budget now moves to the Senate for further consideration before heading to the Governor’s desk.
