Edwards Buys Playoff Tickets for Local Students

COLUMBUS –State Rep. Jay Edwards (R-Nelsonville) yesterday announced that he bought student playoff tickets from thirteen local Appalachian Schools to be distributed to students free of cost.

This move comes on the heels of Edwards’ recently introduced bill to address steep ticket price increases for students and the difficulty students face when attempting to purchase tickets at games using cash.

Edwards bought 100 student football playoff tickets from each school listed below:

Trimble
Nelsonville-York
Eastern (Reedsville)
Fort Frye
Waterford
Steubenville
St. Clairsville
Barnesville
Monroe Central
River (Hannibal)
Harrison Central
Caldwell

He also bought 50 student volleyball playoff tickets from each school listed below:

Nelsonville-York
Waterford
Marietta

“High school sports are community-building events,” said Edwards. “I wish I could do more but hope these tickets will help pack the stadiums and gyms this weekend. These games are some of the best memories these kids will ever have.”

The athletic director and/or superintendent of each school will be tasked with distributing the tickets.
