State Representative Marlene Anielski (R-Walton Hills) recently spoke to high school government students from Brecksville/Broadview Heights. During class, the students have been learning about the differences between local, state, and federal governments with an in-depth look at the state operating budget.

Representative Anielski presented during Mr. Sean Brennan’s afternoon class. Rep. Anielski and the students discussed the legislative process, the makeup of the House and Senate, and the importance of bipartisanship. The focus of the afternoon was the state operating budget and how Ohio’s process works. Each student was given a map of the state of Ohio and information on how a bill becomes a law.

"Representative Anielski did a great job of providing the students with some insight into the legislative process from the inside,” said Mr. Brennan. “Her talk really brought the legislative process alive for them.”

“I hope the students have a better understanding of how the state legislative process works,” said Rep. Anielski. “Being a liaison and listening to constituents is one of the biggest components of my job as a state representative.”
