State Representative Marlene Anielski (R-Walton Hills) recently presented George Main and family with a United States flag that has been flown over the Ohio Statehouse.

“I was privileged to receive a flag flown over Fort McHenry National Monument and Historic Shrine in Baltimore, Maryland, on July 18, 2001,” said Main. “State Representative Marlene Anielski was kind enough to take this flag to Columbus and have it flown over the Ohio Statehouse on September 11, 2014.  I will be presenting this flag to the Village of Walton Hills Historical Society in honor of the 200th year anniversary, of the American victory on September 14, 1814, over the British at Fort McHenry and the writing of ‘The Star Spangled Banner.’ ”

It was the sight of this country’s flag waving over Fort McHenry that inspired Francis Scott Key to pen our national anthem, “The Star Spangled Banner.”

“I am glad George is donating the flag to The Walton Hills Historical Society,” said Rep Anielski. “It is my hope that all residents can share in and enjoy its historical value.”
