Independence Mayor Greg Kurtz and Rep. Anielski

State Representative Marlene Anielski (R-Walton Hills) recently presented the City of Independence with a flag that was flown over the Ohio Statehouse.

The City of Independence is celebrating its bicentennial birthday this year. Representative Anielski presented Mayor Greg Kurtz with the flag at the Taste of Independence celebration held on January 23rd. Those in attendance had the opportunity to sample food from over 28 area restaurants.

In honor of this occasion, Mayor Kurtz has appointed the Bicentennial Committee, which is dedicated to creating a year of exciting events focusing on commemorating the City of Independence’s past, present, and future.

“The Taste of Independence had 500 attendees and was a wonderful way to begin the bicentennial celebration for the city,” Rep Anielski said. "It was my pleasure to be part of the gala in presenting the flag to commemorate their 200th birthday."
