State Representative Marlene Anielski (R-Independence) attended Governor Kasich’s signing of House Bill 149, legislation which she sponsored.

House Bill 149 designates September 10th as “Ohio Suicide Prevention Day.” The date aligns with the national and worldwide Suicide Prevention Days.

“Suicide is an issue that has very personal significance for me. During my time in the legislature I have strived to help raise awareness to this ‘Silent Epidemic’ that is sweeping across our state, claiming many lives and leaving a trail of grief in its wake. Suicide is a preventable cause of death,” Rep. Anielski said. "It gives me great hope that by designating September 10th as ‘Ohio Suicide Prevention Day,’ we can provide education to everyone and help for those who are struggling.”
