During session of the Ohio House of Representatives, State Representatives Marlene Anielski (R-Walton Hills) and Bill Patmon (D-Cleveland) presented a House resolution to the St. Ignatius High School Boys Soccer Team for winning the Ohio High School Athletic Association 2014 State Championships.

The team scored a 2-1 victory over Olentangy Liberty during the championship match on November 8th securing the state champion title for the 6th year. The team’s fifth state champion title won in 2011 also came after another hard fought match with Olentangy Liberty. Saint Ignatius ended the season with a 20-2-1 record.

“Being a high school athlete requires dedication and perseverance, and each and every one of these young men have demonstrated these qualities, both in school and during competition,” said Rep. Anielski. “I wish them all the best of luck in their future endeavors.”

“These young men are just amazing,” said Rep. Patmon. “They have gone where no other soccer team has gone before in winning their 6th Division I State Championship—our future is in good hands!’

"The St. Ignatius High School soccer program is grateful to Representatives Anielski and Patmon for the invitation to the Statehouse, and for the House resolution recognizing us for our accomplishment,” said Coach Mike McLaughlin. “It was a tremendous honor to be recognized in front of the House."
