Ohio lawmakers join together in support of National Wear Red Day.
COLUMBUS -

State Representative Marlene Anielski (R-Independence) is proud to announce her support of the 10th anniversary of the National Wear Red Day, which is a part of the American Heart Association’s (AHA) Go Red For Women movement. Go Red For Women encourages women to stand together to reduce their risk for heart disease and to live a healthier life.

Heart disease is the number-one cause of death for women, taking more lives than the next three causes of death combined, including all forms of cancer. However, 21 percent fewer women are dying from heart disease since the Go Red For Women movement was started.

“By joining together and taking action, we can improve our personal health and make our communities healthier. We can change the statistics for Ohio women, as well as create healthier communities,” said Cresha Auck, Government Relations Director at the Ohio for American Heart Association.

“It has been my pleasure to partner with the American Heart Association on the 10th anniversary of National Wear Red Day,” said Rep Anielski. “I look forward to continuing to work with the AHA on key policy issues that are important to the overall health of all men and women."

The Go Red For Women movement began in 2004. Its purpose is to dispel the myths and raise awareness of heart disease as the number-one killer of women. The American Heart Association created Go Red For Women, a passionate, emotional, social initiative designed to empower women to take charge of their heart health.
